Before engaging in any short-term investing strategies, here is an interesting piece of information that you need to consider.

BNY Mellon Bank just announced that they are actually going to start CHARGING their depositors who hold large sums of money in their bank.

As you know, this is highly unusual, and should affect your investing strategies in various ways.

Normally, of course, banks pay interest for deposits in their institution. This is a normal course of business.

A bank announcing that, rather than paying interest on deposits, they are actually going to charge an annual “holding fee” on large deposits is not only highly unusual, but it is also very alarming for average investors and traders.

Consider what this means.  Most banks are already flush with cash.  Despite what you might believe, they actually have stronger capital positions than they ever have before! They have more cash than they can (or will) lend out.

And they are having such a rush of big-time investor money flooding the bank that one huge player is actually charging people to hold their cash for them.

And investors are willing to pay it. These mega-investors are so scared of what’s going on in the market that they are actually willing to pay a fee to have their cash in a safe place, away from the markets.

What does this mean to the average investor, in relationship to your investing strategy?

You’ll have to decide for yourself. But in my opinion, if the smart money is still flooding the banks instead of being dumped into the stock market, then you might want to think long and hard before taking a long position in the market.

For you Traders, this is a potential sign that a short run might be in order.  Taking a strategic short position in futures contracts on the S&P or the Russel might not be a bad move, assuming you get a good fill price. Would be worth a look.

The S&P Downgrade of U.S. Government Debt may boil down to a simple act of economic terrorism.

As I sat here and watched in horror as the markets plummetted, I had feelings eerily similar to those in 2008.

But this time it is different. This time, there is one single, solitary entity responsible for the calamity. One obvious betrayer to point the finger at. One place to lay the blame. The S&P.

I know – many of you, my faithful readers, might think this to be an outlandish claim. I mean, the S&P is just doing what its supposed to do…right? They are an independent organization that simply gives their opinion about a business’s or government’s ability to repay its debt…right?

Well, in theory, that is correct. But in reality, it’s not that simple.

You see, the S&P is a business. They have clients. They have their own agenda. And in this case, that agenda was executed to the detriment of the U.S., and even the WORLD’S markets.

Because of the S&P Downgrade, millions of retirees just watched 15% or more of their savings retirement evaporate…again!

Because of the S&P Downgrade, businesses will continue to be terrified to hire more workers, and the unemployment rate will continue to climb.

The S&P downgrade might even be the catalyst to finally allow another work currency to supplant the U.S. Dollar as the World Reserve Currency. By this time next year, you might just see crude oil priced in Chinese Yuan.

The S&P’s unprecedented downgrade has done extensive immediate damage to the global economy, and untold long-term damage – perhaps even irreparable damage.

But is it really the S&P’s fault that they felt the need to downgrade U.S. debt?  Can you really hold them accountable for their actions?  Shouldn’t they be held blameless for this, since they are simply calling things like they see them, just like they are supposed to do?

If this were true, then the answer would be yes. But you see, they were acting on an agenda. One that was at odds with the needs of the world population.

Don’t believe me? Let’s consider some interesting pieces of information.

It has recently come to light that the S&P told many of its key clients about the downgrade as early as Friday morning…well before it was announced by the S&P.

You could see the reaction in the market on Friday – a rather large and unexplained drop in the major indexes.

But before the S&P announced their downgrade of U.S. debt, they were informed of a $2 TRILLION dollar error in their analysis.

Again, that was a $2,000,000,000,000 error.  You know, just a small rounding error…

Did that teeny tiny little oversight cause the powers that be at the S&P to change their minds about the downgrade? Did they hold off while they reanalyzed the situation,  making sure that the downgrade was appropriate?

Oh no, they couldn’t do that!  Remember, they had just told their clients that they were going to downgrade the debt, and their clients had used this information to make investment decisions calculated in the hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars.

They couldn’t reverse course, and go back to their clients and say “Sorry, we blew it – we actually aren’t going to downgrade the U.S.  Sorry for your lost millions.”

So what excuse did they use to move forward with the downgrade?

Politics.

Specifically, that the Elephants and the Donkeys in Congress couldn’t get along.

In other words, their decision to downgrade the U.S. was not based on the ability to repay the debt, but on the fact that a group of politicians were squabbling.

By downgrading the United States, the S&P is effectively saying that the U.S. is a higher credit risk than Singapore, Australia, Canada, Sweden, and the Isle of Man. Does anybody really believe that the U.S. is more likely to default that these nations?

But with an AA+ credit rating, the S&P is stating very plainly that the U.S. government is a higher risk of default. And the world markets have reacted accordingly, setting into motion a freight train of economic destruction.

Because of the S&P downgrade decision, the average American has been living in a state of terror for the past few days, watching their life savings evaporate, wondering if they’ll ever be able to retire, and reliving the horror that was December 2008.

And all because the S&P had their own agenda, the world’s population be damned!

Terrorism can be defined as a group or individual advancing their own agenda that is at odds with the needs of the populace, despite the damage that it may cause.

And based on this, the S&P downgrade of the U.S. Government Debt is not only irresponsible and reprehensible, it is a blatant act of economic terrorism.

But not all “investors” were decimated as the U.S. and world markets collapsed. Some made out just fine. Some made millions.

Eric Mundich, who runs Eton Park Capital Management, sold off nearly 1/2 of his stake in the SPDR gold trust in recent months. And Paul Touradji’s capital management firm – one of the largest commodities hedge funds in the world – sold nearly 173,000 shares in the same SPDR Gold Trust during the first quarter.

Interestingly, mega-trader John Paulson has held his $4.4 billion stake in the SPDR fund. But it appears that he’s in the minority in his continued confidence in the future price of gold.

If George Soros and other monster traders are so convinced that the “Gold Rush” is over, well, then maybe it’s time to start looking at creating a trading strategy around a gold decline. Just something to think about.

Most traders are on a constant quest to discover winning trading strategies. And yet, very few Traders are ever able to find and successfully implement these winning trading strategies.

Why is that? What is it that is so elusive about winning trading strategies? Where can you go to find the most powerful and accurate winning trading strategies available?

The fact of the matter is that most well-thought-out trading strategies can and should be winning trading strategies IF the Trader has discipline – both in following the day trading strategy exactly, and also in sticking with the trading strategy.

Yet it seems that most day traders will try what should be a winning trading strategy just once or twice, and if it doesn’t immediately yield positive results, these traders quickly abandon the day trading strategy and move on to the next “winning trading strategy”.

And these same Traders wonder why they can NEVER create consistent Day Trading success – why they can never lock in on that one winning trading strategy.

To help you along on your quest, we’ve created a four-step punchlist for you to follow as you continue your quest to identify winning trading strategies.

The Four Keys To Identify Winning Trading Strategies

1. Keep It Simple, Stoopid! The best day trading strategies are also the easiest to learn, understand, and master. The more complicated a trading strategy (and believe me, in the world of technical analysis, there are PLENTY of ultra-complicated trading strategies), the less like you’ll ever be able to turn it into a winning trading strategy for yourself.  When looking for winning trading strategies, find those that are simple, easy to execute, and that don’t require an advanced degree in statistical theory to comprehend.

2. Speed Is Your Friend. The longer you’re in a trade, the more time there is for something to go wrong. When searching for those elusive Winning Trading Strategies, find one that allows you to be in and out of a trade very quickly (my average trade lasts less than one minute). Finding winning trading strategies that don’t focus on “long term” trading (i.e. anything longer than a few minutes) – it’ll be better for your trading account AND your stress level.

3. Don’t Be A Stock Chart Zombie. Most (nearly all) trading strategies require you to spend hours and hours a day chained like a slave to your computer, making trade after trade after trade, all…day…long.  Is that really the life that you’re looking for? Wouldn’t it be better to be in, out, and on with your day? In fact, The Guerrilla Trader slogan “get in, hit your target, get out…like you were never there” is speaking directly to this idea.  The problem is that MOST trading strategies require you to watch for indicators that will “predict” when market movement will happen, and also which direction to enter the trade. Wouldn’t it be easier, and flat-out BETTER, if you already knew exactly when market movement was going to happen, and then how to take advantage of that movement? The less time you have to spend executing a winning trading strategy, the more like you will be to maintain your discipline as a Trader. Speaking of…

4. Maintain your discipline. No matter what trading strategy or system you ultimately decide on, discipline is absolutely 100% necessary for you to become a successful trader. You MUST maintain your discipline as you execute your chosen strategy, and also as you keep working at perfecting it. Lack of discipline has perhaps ruined more would-be Traders than any other flaw. Even as an experienced Trader, I sometimes find myself growing impatient with my winning trading strategies (even though these strategies that I use develop almost instantly and I’m usually in a trade for less than a minute).  And its when I veer off course of these winning trading strategies that I find myself limiting my profits, or even turning winning trades into loosing trades. As a day trader, there is no characteristic more important in your trading practices than the ability to exercise a high level of discipline. And ironically, there is no trading skill that is harder to master than unbending, unyielding discipline.

So there you have it – the four keys of identifying winning trading strategies. Of course, not all trading strategies are created equally…

If you’re a long-time follower of The Guerrilla Trader, then you already know how I feel about the legitimacy (or lack thereof) of the Unemployment Data that gets released in various announcements on a monthly or weekly basis.

You know that I personally believe that the Government manipulates this data, using seasonal adjustments, ignoring specific categories of unemployed or underemployed workers, etc.

Well, sometimes the government can manipulate this data without adjusting anything – just by increasing its own employment.

And that’s exactly what happened last week when the Unemployment Rate and Non-Farm Employment Change data were released.

While most investors and traders were basking in the glow of the single largest monthly job growth in over 10 years (431,000 in May), others who were skeptical of these results started to dig beneath the surface (such as myself).

And just guess what I found…more government manipulation. But this time, not by adjusting data, but by inflating it with temporary hirings.

You see, of the 431,000 “new” jobs announced for the month of May, 390,000 were from the Federal Government!  That means that only a paltry 41,000 came from the private sector, which is far more telling about the current state of the “economic recovery”.

So where did all of these new government jobs come from?  Well, think about what year it is.

It’s 2010. And what happens in our great country once every decade?

That’s right – the Census. So where did these new workers come from?

The United State Government actually created 411,000  TEMPORARY Census jobs in May. This means that outside of these once-in-a-decade job positions, the government actually CUT 21,000 jobs.

And also, these jobs are TEMPORARY – once the Census has been completed, we’ll no longer need these positions – and so these employees will be dumped back into the pool of the Unemployed.

So…surprise, surprise, the U.S. Gov’t was the driving force behind the surprising surge in job growth.

But when you dig beneath the surface, you quickly discover that where job growth really matters (in the private sector), new jobs are NOT growing on trees.

In fact, considering the staggering job losses this country has absorbed over the past 2 years, 41,000 new private-sector jobs in May is just an itsy-bitsy drop in the bucket.

Also, what was very interesting to me personally was the Market’s reaction to the announced employment data.

The unemployment rate dropped by 0.2% (a HUGE drop, all things considered), and we “added” 431,000 “new” jobs in May.

All of this should have been considered excellent news, and the markets should have rallied to the moon…right?

Not so fast, my friend! (to quote my pal Lee Corso)

Instead, the market PLUMMETTED! For example, the S&P 500 Future market was down over 20 points in a matter of mere minutes.

So why did the market drop with all of this supposedly good news?

Well, part of the reason was many leading economists were expecting over 500,000 new jobs in May, which would explain an immediate negative reaction in the Markets – anytime you see over a 90K difference between expectations and reality, you’ll see massive market movement.

However, after a minute or two, you would have expected cooler heads to prevail. You would have expected Traders and Investors alike to realize that the unemployment rate was down 0.2% (0.1% more than expected), and even though we didn’t hit the economists lofty expectations, we did show an on-the-surface job growth of over 400,000, which can only be considered good news…right?

Well, not according to the Markets. I can only surmise that Traders and Investors are starting to catch on to the Governments hand in the employment data, and are no longer just taking everything at surface value.

A lot has been made of this idea of “Prosperous Trading” – what is it? How does it work? What makes a “prosperous trade” different from a regular trade.

You don’t NEED to spend hours a day trading in order to be successful. Your trading strategy doesn’t need to be complicated at all – you don’t need fancy stock charts, you don’t need technical analysis, trend lines, Stochasitcs…you can forget ALL of that mumbo-jumbo.

And you don’t need to spend hour after hour a day making trades.

In fact, as a Prosperous Trader, you can Dominate the Markets, while you execute a very simple trading strategy, spending just a few minutes a day at your computer, making just a few trades a WEEK!

And if the above statement is true (which it is), then you can go out there and just LIVE YOUR LIFE! This is the CORE of what Prosperous Trading is all about.

You see, Prosperous Trading is about MORE than just making money. It’s about LIFESTYLE – about freeing yourself from your computer and your stock charts so that you can actually ENJOY your life – doing what you WANT to be doing.

And unless you’re a glutton for punishment…I’m willing to wager that the idea of sitting at your computer trading all day long isn’t your idea of a “good time”.

So, the question that naturally follows is…how? How can you become a Prosperous Trader? How does that work?

The key is you need to figure out how to trade successfully and profitably in a minimum amount of time. I call it “extreme trading efficiency”.

And here’s what you need to know to make that happen:

1. You need to know when the market will have a significant movement. Exactly. To the second.

2. You need to know how MUCH movement there will be.

3. You need to have simple, yet effective strategies for capitalizing on that movement in either direction.

If you have those three requirements figured out, then you’re set. You’ll have what you need to become a Prosperous Trader.

But…what if you had a little extra icing on the cake – if you had all three of the above requirements…and then you even had SPECIFIC price points where the market was likely to have a reaction?

There’s been an interested trend in the Markets lately.

It used to be, just a few months ago, that the Markets sat on the edge of their seats as they tensely waited for the latest Unemployment Claims data to be released, ready to race one way or another based on the results.

These swings in the Markets were always dramatic – immediate 5-10 point rises or falls were NOT uncommon.

But a couple of months ago, something interesting started happening. The market started acting irrationally.

News that should drive the markets up instead caused them to plummet.  News that should be catastrophic caused an immediate gyration, then a nice steady upwards trend.

It’s not that unusual for the Markets to do things that defy logic and reason. I liken the Markets to a Great White Shark – an unthinking, risk- capital-account eating machine.

But that’s not where the weirdness ended.

You see, over the past month or so, the markets have been behaving even MORE strangely around the Unemployment Claims announcements.

Where this announcement used to have an immediate and dramatic impact on the Markets, even when it was something irrational movement, now the markets tend to do…

…not much of anything.

It’s like the investors and Traders out there are saying to themselves “Oh, another 500,000 people filed their very first unemployment claim this week. Ho hum. No big deal. I wonder what Bernanke had for breakfast…”

What, are you kidding me? That’s almost 500,000 NEWLY unemployed workers! And that’s a Weekly figure!

Well, guess what happened this morning - the unemployment claims data was released,

and there were 456,000 NEW unemployment claims last week.

That’s 456,000 people who filed their very first unemployment claims EVER – in ONE  WEEK.

And what did the market do?

NOTHING.

It’s like investors and Traders don’t really care about unemployment anymore, like they’re just numb to it – where just a few months ago,  EVERYONE cared. And the markets reacted  VIOLENTLY to this data.

My point here is this:  The markets are dynamic.

They change. And what affects the markets changes too.

…and yet, for some reason, your mind just can’t seem to wrap itself around the idea that THIS could be YOUR LIFE as a Trader.

It must seem too good to be true. And for many “Day Trading Zombies”, it IS too good to be true. So they ignore what you’re about to see, and they keep living in their little Day Trading Caves, shut off from the real world, so that can enjoy the “freedom” they earned from the “rat race” when they became “Traders”.

For those of you who for whatever reason can’t seem to catch the vision, can’t seem to wrap your brains around what it means to be a Prosperous Trader, I just uncovered a little gem.

These next three videos were recorded months ago by Sean Larsgard, one of the creators of, and Trading Masterminds behind, the Day Trading Academy that we endorse here at The Guerrilla Trader.

This Trading Academy, known as Market Mover Trading, has made a habit of taking inexperienced, struggling, or just worn-out-and-tired Traders and turning them into Prosperous Traders (see definition above).

Many people want to know what it LOOKS LIKE to be a “prosperous trader”.  They can’t envision themselves just living life, spending their time with their families or pursuing a hobby or saving the world or whatever…

This first video demonstrates and proves that, yes, we really DO know EXACTLY when there is going to be sudden and VIOLENT market movement…which we intend to capitalize on.

The second video demonstrates the Prediction Points released by Market Mover Trading, and shows how accurate they can be. As you watch this video, consider just how powerful of a Trading Tool these would be in YOUR arsenal.

And finally, this last video shows a real-live Trade (actually two trades, but they happen so stupifyingly fast that you don’t even realize it’s two unless you really know what’s going on). Imagine, making a lightning-quick trade, and then shutting down your computer and walking away for the day… (keep your eyes on the two green boxes at the top of the screen when he jumps into his trade)

So there you have it. These short, informal videos show the essence of what Market Mover Trading is all about – demystifying trading, exposing the “generally accepted standards of trading” as the frauds that they are, and minimizing the time you need to spend at your computer so you can maximize what’s really important – LIVING (whatever that means to YOU).
